Saina Nehwal outshines Tine Baun in Women’s Singles quarter-final clash at Yonex Denmark Open
India’s top shuttler Saina Nehwal breaks many hearts as she defeated the local favourite Tine Baun in Women’s Singles quarter-final clash at the Yonex Denmark Open Premier Super Series 2012 on Friday, October 19, at Odense, Denmark.
World Number Four Saina, who is the third seeded player in Women’s Singles draw of the tournament, was in staggering form on court as she showed no mercy to her experienced local challenger and easily proved her superiority in the arena.
Saina showed the world that she has belongs to the highest class of shuttlers when it comes to skill set as she played with remarkable precision and managed to finish up the match against Baun in a one-sided fashion with a crushing margin in just 33 minutes.
On the other hand, the World Number Six Baun could not prove her mettle on court in front of her home fans as she could not cope up with the speed and perfection of her Indian opponent and went down against her without delivering a reasonable performance.
In the opening set, Saina started her run in a dominating fashion as she did not face any problem in taking the bird early and managed a remarkable lead at the initial stage.
Indian lady continued her remarkable run on court without showing any mercy to her Danish challenger and eventually took a stunning lead until the break.
After the one-minute break, the impressive Saina did not slow down her speed and maintained the gap against Baun without facing any problem.
Saina remained consistent in her smooth sailing on court and easily wrapped up the opening set with a 21-10 score on the board.
In the second game, Baun tried to play better badminton but she could not control the pace and remained struggling far behind on board against her in-form challenger until the end of first half.
After the interval, Saina did not spare any chance for her Danish rival of fighting back and eventually won the game with a one-sided score of 21-11.
The impressive Saina easily registered a comprehensive win over Baun in straight games with a 21-10 and 21-11 score on the board.
