Saina Nehwal pushing herself to the limit to prepare well for Olympic Games – Badminton news
India’s top player Saina Nehwal is putting everything in her training sessions in order to prepare well for the Olympic Games 2012 where she is expected to bring India’s first ever title in Women’s Singles category.
In an interview for the Times of India Saina told about her preparation and training routine and also revealed her determination to put up good show in Olympics which will take place in England in July-August, 2012.
Saina, who has been placed at number 5 in Women’s Singles world rankings, has been beating the top shuttlers in the world and also has the honour of becoming country’s first female shuttler who won many Super Series titles in Women’s Singles category.
While talking about her training routine, Saina said that she consume almost seven hours in training sessions.
She said, “I train for six to seven-and-a-half hours daily, across three sessions spread over the morning, noon and evening hours. We have a set of schedules called on-court and off-court with weightlifting, agility and stamina-building exercises. We work
on these at least six days of the week usually.”
The main rivals of Saina at Olympics will be Chinese females who are considered the best in the world as China never goes out of talent in this particular category.
Saina, who has defeated all top Chinese shuttlers except Wang Yihan, knows very well that it becomes hard to defeat them as they are complete players from all aspects of the game.
She said, “Well, I have beaten almost all the Chinese players in the top tournaments i've played, but yes, it is tough to overcome them. I have not beaten the world No. 1 Wang Yihan. I actually lost to her in very close encounters.”
Saina is working hard to increase her physical fitness which is the most important aspect as she knows that she will face at least two or three Chinese players towards her road to victory in any major tournament in the world of badminton.
Saina is preparing herself while working hard in training sessions and is determined to live up to expectations in Olympic Games.
