Saina Nehwal trying her best to prepare well for 2012 London Olympics – Badminton news
Saina Nehwal, a mega star in Indian badminton, is putting in extra effort in her training sessions to become physically tougher and live up to expectations in 2012 London Olympics, which will be held in July-August in London.
World Number 5 Saina is the only hope for India to create history by winning a medal in Olympics as no other Indian player is capable enough to make the cut.
In order to move faster in the court, Saina has been working really hard to reduce her body weight. She lost almost five kilogram weight in a period of one month resulting from the use of selective diet and appropriate exercises.
While talking about her diet, Saina said that she has stopped having junk food. She also expressed that winning a medal at Olympics is something highly prestigious for a player.
She said, "I am having a lot of protein shakes. No roti, chapati or rice, just steamed stuff, grilled chicken and salads. For any badminton player, the holy grail is the Olympic gold. That is motivation enough to avoid junk food."
Saina knows very well that for winning any major title, all shuttlers in the world have to face Chinese females in their way to glory. In order to win against the Chinese players requires a lot of hard work.
However, she also said that with the help of her coach Pullela Gopichand she is working on the technical aspects of her game.
She added, "The Chinese are formidable, but so is every Top 10 player. Anything can happen but my new training regimen has helped. Gopi sir wants more variety to my strokes, flicks. The women's game sees a lot of rallies and it's important to make it short.
The Chinese especially can run you around."
Saina has been creating trouble to the top Chinese shuttlers as she has a playing strategy. However, she has also been losing to Chinese opponents time and again.
Now she wants to remain consistent against all top shuttler particularly Chinese females and she is preparing well to live up to expectations at London Olympics.
