Saina Nehwal, the impressive Indian badminton player has been performing splendidly so far, and amid being in form, the girl has confidently vowed to win Hong Kong Super Series and Indian Open Title.
Merely 20 years old, who has recently climbed to world number two ranking, shared her eagerness to win more tournaments for her homeland. And for doing so, she was diligently putting her best efforts to improve her game performance and to overcome her potential
weaknesses.
“It was disappointing to lose in the Asian Games but I know I worked hard and gave my best. There was little time to prepare but otherwise the year has been good for me,” said Saina while talking to the reporters.
She stated that in order to take forward the confidence to the next year, it was very important for her to win Hong Kong Open and Indian Open. However, the young badminton player, who had lost to Hong Kong’s Yip Pui Yin in the Guangzhou Asian Games in the
quarter-finals, also admitted that it was not going to be easy for her.
“I hope to play well in Hong Kong to win the title. I might meet Yin again there and I hope to beat her. She has improved a lot but it would be a different match” said Saina, who is likely to face Yin Pui again in the Hong Kong Open’s quarter finals.
Saina has been emphatic and rampaging throughout this year, winning back-to-back titles in almost all of the tournaments she got to play. The most prominent tournaments she could win, in the year which is about to end, were constituted by Indian Open, held
in Chennai, Singapore Open and Indonesian open.
However, her best and most appraised performance was observed in the big event held on the home courts. She was simply matchless at the Delhi Commonwealth Games which earned her a gold medal.
When she was asked about the potential challenges she would particularly dwell upon in the coming year, Saina said that performing well in the super series was an ultimate target for her. It was going to extend her an opportunity to have a perfect practice
for the 2012 London Olympics.
Responding to a question regarding her targets in context of world ranking, she said that she was more concerned about winning tournaments than dwelling upon the ranking matter.
