Do you tip the driver, when he delivers your shopping to your door.

The delivery guy stood there last night like a hotel porter that had just brought two very heavy staircases to my room. Not four bags off grocery's

To tip or not to tip is the question

  1. No, you've paid your fiver to Sainsburys and that's it.

I have used it and the driver has never expected anything.

  2. absolutely not.

you pay for a delivery service.

even if you are on a free delivery deal then you have still ordered a certain amount of moneys worth of gooods to get the free deal.

if they do it again report them, they could be targetting the elderly or people who are too intimidated to say no.

It is against Sainsburys' company policy to accept gifts from a customer (sackable offence)

  3. I use Sainsbury's all the time and have never tipped.  I have never even thought about it.  Is that rude?  I don't think the delivery driver expects to be tipped, after all you have already paid for delivery and they get paid by Sainsbury's.

  4. Perhaps he wanted to get his leg over!

  5. I work on the basis that if I had to have a cab home with all the shopping it would cost me the fare plus a tip.

The delivery charge is cheaper than a cab and the chap puts it straight in the kitchen for me - I think that's worth a tip from anybody - no waiting for tha cab and no humping bags about at either end!!
