Saint Gervais expected to dominate Thetote.com Maiden Hurdle
Saint Gervais is expected to dominate proceedings in Thetote.com Maiden Hurdle at Clonmel in Ireland on Thursday, April 5, 2012. The winner of the race will run away with a cash prize of €5,175.
A total of 18 runners had been attracted towards the race and their names are as follows: Saint Gervais, An Dearthair Og, Five Point Plan, Noble Pageant, Ennisnag, Celestial Prospect, Kansascity Shuffle, Milan Rua, My Brother Pat, Parthian Empire, Sids Choice,
Ethan´s Millie, Olivia´s Princess, Tornado King, Ballysax Boo, Coldstonesober, Lightning Rory and Ballylackens Dream.
Out of the above mentioned runners, Noble Pageant might not be able to take part in the race, as he has suffered an injury. He was one of the contenders for victory today, as he has got a decent record in hurdles.
With the omission of the six-year-old, only 17 horses will now be seen in action in the race, which is scheduled to start at 4:55 GMT. Going will be good and the distance to cover is 2 miles and 100 yards.
Although Saint Gervais has been unable to win any race over hurdles, his overall record and recent form have been good due to which the bookies have awarded him with pretty decent odds. The punters will also be placing quite a few bets in his favour today.
The seven-year-old gelding has entered three hurdles until now and the best he could manage was a second place finish. Importantly, this performance came in his most recent run, which indicates that he is in excellent rhythm right now.
John E. Kiely will not make things easy for the rest of the participants, as he is full of confidence at the moment. He will be partnered by Andrew J. McNamara, who is relatively new to the sport and will be looking forward to a strong race.
Another runner, who is expected to produce a good result in the race, is An Dearthair Og. He has taken part in just one race over hurdles and managed to secure a third place finish in it.
Henry De Bromhead’s trained gelding will be ridden by D. N. Russell, who has win seven races over hurdles.
The remaining participants are quite inexperienced and will find it hard to win at Clonmel today.
