Saints RB Sharper will take QB Drew Brees over Brett Favre in tense games - NFL News
New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees has been gathering praise from across the National Football League. Now teammate Darren Sharper has become the latest player to heap praise on the quarterback.
Sharper compared Brees to one of the National Football League’s greatest ever quarterback Brett Favre and said he would trust his teammate more than Favre in a tough situation.
“With the game on the line I would have to go with Mr. Drew Brees, because we’ve seen Brett — who I love to death — throw the ball up in the air when anyone can make a play on it, intercept it, at the end of games,” Sharper said. “If you want to come down
to a two-minute drill where you need a play for your team to win, you go with one of the most accurate quarterbacks in the NFL, and that’s Drew Brees.”
Favre retired after last year’s season and is one of the most decorated quarterbacks in National Football League history. Drew Brees however, is not far behind. Brees has been in tremendous form this season as he led the New Orleans Saints to the National
Football Conference South division title this season.
The quarterback is ranked second overall in the National Football League quarterback rankings with a 108.4 rating. Brees has created 41 passing touchdowns this season covering 5,087 passing yards completing 440 out of 622 attempted passes. The quarterback
also leads the National Football League in pass completion rates with 70.7%.
The quarterback last week became the first player to break Dan Marino’s three decade old record for the highest passing yards in a single season. Brees achieved the feat against arch rivals Atlanta Falcons as he scored four passing touchdowns during the
game.
Sharper also went on to say that Brett Favre’s penchant for risky passes never provided much confidence to his teammates and that Brees is more accurate with his passing.
The New Orleans Saints led by Brees completely outplayed the Atlanta Falcons on Monday running out 45-16 winners and also securing the National Football Conference South Division title and continue their attempt to get a first week playoffs bye. Brees beat
Marino’s milestone with the last throw of the game, a nine yard pass to running back Darren Sproles.
The Saints will play their final game against Carolina Panthers on Sunday and a victory against the division rivals will give the Saints a second seed playoffs berth provided that San Francisco 49ers lose against St. Louis Rams.
