Saitaua Iosia nominated for the position of Female MVP of the Year – Volleyball news
Russell Athletics has nominated the Long Beach California native Saitaua Iosia, who is freshman outside hitter in women’s volleyball team of University of Maryland Eastern Shore, for the position Most Valuable Player of the Year.
A total of five student athletes have been nominated for the Female MVP by the ‘Historically black colleges and universities (HBCU) athletics. The HBCU Russell Athletics has arranged the online poles for the selection of following players:
Saitaua Iosia – UMES Hawks Jamila McKinnis – Stillman College Victoria Lewis – Chowan University Whiquitta Tobar – Alabama A&M University LaQwesh Gamble – Johnson C. Smith University
The HBCU is set to celebrate HBCU students’ achievements in Academics and several other fields such as Community Service, Leadership, Entertainment, and Sports on March 24. Blackburn Centre in Howard University, Washington D.C. will provide the backdrop
for the HBCU Award Show.
The sole purpose of the HBCU Awards is to uplift the HBCU student body and to encourage them. The athletes with academic and sports accomplishments will be awarded with many different honours.
The HBCU has created the online pole on its official website. People can visit the website and vote for the favourite players. In addition to Female Most Valuable Player of Year Award, there are other categories.
The other awards include Russell HBCU Male Athlete of the Year, Russell HBCU Rookie of the Year, Russell HBCU Dance Team of the Year, Russell HBCU Cheerleading Squad of the Year, and Russell HBCU Band of the Year.
In the Female MVP of the Year, Saitaua Iosia has high hopes to be selected as the Most Valuable Player. This season has been quite successful for Iosia as she settled for numerous accolades on account of her spectacular performance. She was named the Mid-Eastern
Athletic Conference Rookie of the Year; found a place in the 1st-Team All-MEAC. Furthermore, she emerged as the Most Outstanding Performer at MEAC Tournament.
The COBRA Magazine picked her up as the freshman of the Year and also named her to the COBRA All-National First Team.
She also helped the Hawks to earn school’s first ever MEAC volleyball title this season. She contributed 472 kills, 268 digs, 49 services aces, and 54 blocks.
