Sajjhaa to make the most out of her racing experience at York in the Betfred Middleton Stakes
York will become home for the Group 2 Betfred Middleton Stakes over a mile, two furlongs and eighty-eight yards on Thursday, 17th May. Participating in the race is a line-up of eleven four-year and older thoroughbreds. The winner will get awarded with the £56,710 prize money.
The most experienced entry on the line-up when it comes to racing at York is Sajjhaa, King’s Best’s five-year-old bay mare out of mare, Anaamil. She is racing her seasonal debut today and has been active at York twice during the previous season.
Her cracking into the 2011 season was through the Group 2 Totesport.Com Middleton Stakes (Fillies & Mares) on 12th May at York over a mile and two and a half furlong.
The race was won by the 11/10 favourite of the race, Midday, who led Sajjhaa by two lengths. The runner up was coupled with Frankie Dettori for the race.
Sir Henry Cecil trained Timepiece, settled third behind the winner.
Her next attempt at the race course was in the EBF “Authorized” Lyric Fillies’ Stakes on 22nd July over a mile and two and a half furlong.
Sajjhaa was the 4/5 favourite winner of the race and yet again had Frankie Dettori onboard. Finishing the earliest behind the winner was Myplacelater while catching up with the third slot was Contredanse.
The only victory that came the five-year-old’s way during the previous season was through the chance at York.
Once again she is set to penetrate into the new season by racing at York.
She needs to look out for Myplacelater, Where Or When’s five-year-old chestnut mare out of mare, Star Welcome. Myplacelater has already displayed her potential by parking second to Sajjhaa on 22nd July at York.
The three races that she has been a part of ever since the new season shot off, her best ranking was in the most recent venture.
Myplacelater scored second in the Group 3 Betfair Huxley Stakes (For The Tradesman’s Cup) on 10th May at Chester over a mile and two and a half furlong.
The race was won by Marcret while the 9/4 favourite of the race, Questioning, finished fourth on the track of seven.
Sajjhaa has already confronted Myplacelater and Timepiece and will need to look out for both.
