Sakon Yamamoto sees his seat safe at HRT for the Season
The HRT test driver, Sakon Yamamoto is hopeful that his place in the team is safe till the end of 2010 season.
Three different drivers drive for HRT this season which include Bruno Senna and Karun Chandhok as the main drivers while Sakon Yamamoto as the teat driver.
Last week, there were reports in the media which stated that Chandhok, the Indian driver, is likely to race the last two rounds of the season as he has been set aside by Yamamoto after the German Grand Prix. Well, if the speculations are true that Chandhokd would be back then who would be leaving the team?
Senna was asked to rest earlier this season, when the Japanese handled the cockpit in Silverstone at the British Grand Prix, teaming up with the Indian racer. As per the recent interview of Yamamoto to a website, there are chances that Senna would once again be enjoying the race out of the track. The 28-year-old claimed, "Whether I replace Bruno or Karun, I don't know. But it is certain that I will do all of the races and I will finish the season." He added that the team is still deciding which other racer they want besides him but the final decision has not yet been made. However he said, "But my position is in no doubt."
Chandhok has been out of the race since last three Grand Prix, but according to the team management, there are no hard feelings between the driver and the team and they both fully understood the reasons for this. The young Indian racer commented on the matter and said, "The reasons [for missing races] seem fairly obvious but at the end of the day, the team has its reasons, financial or circumstantial. I think, I will do two or three races before the year’s end but honestly, our focus has now shifted to 2011."
Well, with this situation it is pretty obvious that Bruno Senna is the man who would be out of the team for the last two or three rounds. This season has been a very important one for Chandhok as the Formula One caravan is to move to his home town next year for the first time. Being the only Indian racer in the squad, it is hoped that he would pull a lot of publicity and sponsorship there. The season has also been a very crucial one for Yamamoto, as he made his debut at Formula One this year. So far, the Japanese has taken part in just four out of the thirteen races.
Amongst the first four races, the German Grand prix had been the worst for him as he wasn’t able to finish the race and instead retired after having it started from twentieth place on the grid. His first Grand Prix of the year at Silverstone landed him at twentieth place after staring from twenty fourth whereas Hungarian Grand Prix was the best for him where he ended at nineteenth. Last week at Spa, he wound up his round at twentieth place being pointless so far.
With five more races yet to go, let’s see if Lotus is able to bag any points or would finish their debut season pointless.
