Salacres Town thrives in Thursday’s RP GREYHOUND TV 550 MAIDEN DUP at Henlow
After a dramatic contest, Salacres Town managed to stand first in the RP GREYHOUND TV 550 MAIDEN DUP, hosted by Henlow on Thursday, February 02. The 550 metre long Grade Open Race (OR) Heat had everything - drama, excitement and a lot of nail-biting
moments.
Despite not being the favourite, P H Harnden’s trainee delivered an impressive show, winning a cash prize of £150. The black dog got crowded early on and thus, nobody was expecting him to unleash such a superb performance.
However, a strong finish by Balintore Brave’s son out of Ahavoher Rachel was good enough to stun the audience. He exhibited an extraordinary effort in the final moments, sealing a comfortable 3-length victory. Carrying the odds of 9 to 4, the dog reached
the winning post in 33.72 seconds.
Altamount Ken, who was in good position during most part of the race, could not resist against Salacres Town’s final touch. He was enjoying the winning possibility of 3 to 1, making his way out from the fourth trap. The black dog, trained by K J Cobbold,
took 33.96 seconds to finish the party.
Despite the fact that the son of Hades Rocket out of Lemon Clare was outplayed by the triumphant hound, he earned some respect by beating the most preferred hound by a couple of lengths.
With the starting price of 5 to 4, Westmead Athena was rated as the most favourite ahead of the race. However, it was an ordinary show by N Savva’s trainee, who arrived at the finishing line in 34.11 seconds. Top Honcho’s daughter out of Westmead Olivia
gave her fans some hope by showing an early pace, but could not continue the good work afterwards.
As expected, the last couple of positions belonged to the least favourite hounds in the Heat, Lughill Hector at 7 to 1 and Gundoglady the 8 to 1 choice. After leaving the trap, the fifth placed dog, trained by A J Ward, covered the track in 34.16 seconds.
Gundoglady’s running time was 34.37 seconds. The black b***h failed to avoid back marker’s tag by a margin 2 ¾ lengths.
Salacres Town has been showing unbelievable performances since his debut. It was his third victory in four Heats, he has run so far.
