Salamera and Cayllano favourites to win the Grade 2 Adirondack Stakes at Saratoga
The Grade 2 Adirondack Stakes is creating excitement, as six juvenile females will gather on the field at Saratoga on 12th August, 2012. It will be a test for the fillies, and their connections to determine a future star in
the $200,000 event.
Running over a distance of 6 ½ furlongs, it will be a tough battle, but Cayllano and Salamera will be the one to beat in the lineup, as both of them will run as the high-weight of 120 pounds.
Salamera, who is currently under the training of Rodolfo Garcia, comes to the track with more experience. With a perfect 2 race win streak, she is looking strong enough to claim the third race and complete her hat-trick in a grand fashion.
On 26th May, 2012, she aced her maiden over 4 ½ furlongs, when she defeated, Jewel in the Sky, followed by victory in the J J'sdream Stakes at Calder Casino and Racecourse.
Running over a distance of 5 ½ furlongs, she defeated, Impossible Mary, and completed the race in 1 minute and 05.70 seconds.
Taking on a slightly larger distance, the daughter of Successful Appeal, out of mare Autumn Music, will be slightly stretched out in distance.
Owned by the Tanourin Stables, the juvenile excelled in a five-furlong work-out at Calder, which she completed in 1 minute and 04.00 seconds, which demonstrates that she is in the right form.
Cayllano, trained by Thomas Amoss, will boast her excellent form on the track as she aims to steal the race with her winning form.
On 11th June, 2012, she broke her maiden, and took the five furlong track by storm and by defeating, Harbor Expectation, by a massive margin of 9 lengths.
The daughter of Bluegrass Cat demonstrated her potential in the White Clay Creek Overnight Stakes at Delaware Park on 4th July, 2012, where she took on 5 ½ furlongs. Like Salamera, she will have to work harder on the distance.
Both these talented fillies will aim to take their first Graded victory in this race. While Cayllano will be ridden by jockey Javier Castellano, rider Angel Castillo will be aboard Salamera.
