Question:

Salaried Manager but Needing Extra Money?

Okay, so I am a salaried manager in an office. I work 6am-4pm Monday through Friday. On Saturdays and Sundays I sometimes take a laptop home to work on stuff from home. Because I am salaried I am not making any more money by working overtime.

I can't get a formal-type of second job because some days I may work late and leave at 5pm. My drive home is 45 minutes in the evening and 25 minutes in the morning. Traffic is worse in the afternoon.

Both vehicles I have are 6cyl luxury vehicles (Lexus GS & BMW 530i). I am spending $70/wk for gas just driving my 18mpg GS.

I've done pretty much all I can do to save money/cut corners. I am needing to figure out a way to get addt'l money.

I have tried to sell some stuff on ebay, no luck. I cannot trade in my cars so do not even suggest that. I also do not feel comfortable doing a paperroute with my vehicles.

Any suggestions for me on how to make addt'l cash? This will just be temp (like 3 mos). I'd like to pay off some debt. Thanks

  1. You are obviously living beyond your means. A Lexus and and a BMW? You say don't even suggest trading them in, but they're a big root of your problem. If you're not willing to face up to the problem I don't know how anybody can help you here. Good luck, sounds like you'll need it.

This kind of reminds me of a guy drilling holes in the bottom of his boat and asking for help to keep it from sinking. If you tell him to start by stop drilling and the answer comes back, "No I can't do that" I don't know how to help a person like that.

  2. Check out Aurastella.com. You can schedule parties on your available time. No presentations and they offer whats called an easy pay kit. Ground floor opportunity, selling sterling silver jewelry.

  3. Two cars for one person? Or is there another person? I know the really obvious answer..

    edit:

ickk.. that really is a bummer

well if all hope fail you could always lean back on prostitution.  lmao sorry.. I had to add that.

  4. Seems like what you have to "sell" is time, although not too much of it. Weekends, mainly. If you really need more income now, scale back your weekend extra work, and do something for pay.

However, as a business owner, I will give you this advice: whatever you make in short-term extra income will probably be offset eventually by smaller increases in your salaried income. Invest your time in building your career, not in putting a few extra dollars in your pocket right now.

  5. Welcome to the club.  Many of us are having similar problems to this these days. I would like to offer you a suggestion that you could brainstorm and see if it can work for you. Please feel free to contact me via email for more details.
