Question:

Salaries for civilian UAV pilots?

My fiance is a UAV pilot in the Army. His experience and training is from the Army and he's got deployment experience and all that jazz. We will be parting ways with the military in a few years and he seems optimistic that he'll land a great position either hired on or do contracting work with private companies that work with the military. Is this true? What kind of salaries can he expect? Over/under 100k? What's the career outlook like? I'm asking bc I know I can make over 100k with my education and support us financially but I hate my career and really want to switch soon to something I actually enjoy doing.

  1. If he doesn't have an Engineering or telecommunications degree, he won't start at $100k.  Maybe like $70-85K depending on company, his specific experience and where in the country the job is.  How much, if he deploys will also factor in.  He shouldn't have too much trouble getting hired if he wishes, certainly

  2. I dont think there are any civilian UAV pilots. Unless he already has a job lined up than this is a stupid idea. Its incredibly hard to get a good civilian job when your only training is in something that nobody needs. He should at least go reserves and get a degree out of it.
