Salary cap?

Do all teams have the same salary cap,or do some have more money to play with?

No, because melbourne & brisbane do deals to get around the salary cap and the reason why they can have so many good players.  Canterbury got caught a few years ago, but I can't see brisbane or melbourne ever getting caught as they are favourites of the nrl and fox.  There are also rumours about Easts as well.

but teams like bulldogs in the nrl and carlton in the afl

have recently been penalised for breaching the salary cap

until recently, brisbane and sydney in the afl had greater salary caps because it was thought that it was harder to hold on to (espec victorian, but also wa and sa) players there (because of the go-home temptation).

but then, when brisbane beat eddie's beloved pies by 60 pts in the 2003 gf (one of the best gf's ever - seeing pies get belted) he said it wasnt fair and now the caps are equal. so you can blame him

Its a 4.1M cap but the salary floor (the compulsory amount they have to spend) is 3.7M. the richer team use all of their cap but the poorer ones like the Tigers and Sharks dont use all their cap( not this year anyway)
