Sale Sharks sign Joaquin Tuculet on one-year deal to strengthen squad for 2011/12 Aviva Premiership

Manchester based English Rugby Union club, Sale Sharks, has announced the signing of the Argentinean fullback, Joaquin Tuculet, to strengthen their squad for next season. Officials at the club
have confirmed the signing of Tuculet on a one-year deal in a statement released on their website on Wednesday, August 10.
Earlier, Tuculet missed out from a place in the Los Pumas final 30-man squad for their 2011 Rugby World Cup campaign.
Sales Sharks Director of Rugby, Steve Diamond, has expressed his delight on the signing of Tuculet for their 2011/12 Aviva Premiership campaign. He expressed his disappointment that Tuculet
had missed the World Cup selection.
Commenting further, Diamond added, “I first saw Joaquin when I coached Russia and he impressed me, I am delighted he has joined us.”
Diamond has praised Tuculet’s approach to the game, hard working attitude, rugby skills and personality attributes. He added, “He (Tuculet) will fit in perfectly with what we are trying to
achieve at the club and has already started training.”
The 22-year-old Tuculet has joined the Premiership side after leaving the Argentinean professional rugby union club, Club de Rugby Los Tilos.  Besides Los Tilos, he has also played for Los
Pampas.
Tuculet has also represented the Argentinean national team at Under-20s level and their Sevens outfit, commonly known as Jaguars. He played for the Argentina Under-20s side in the International
Rugby Board’s (IRB) 2009 Junior World Championships where he played all four matches of the tournament but failed to score any points.
La Plata born Tuculet made his debut for the Jaguars in the IRB’s 2010 Nations Cup tournament. He was also the part of the team, which contested in this year’s Nations Cup competition, held
in Romania.
In his six Nations Cup appearances, he has scored 33 points for Jaguars, which includes six tries and a drop goal. He scored four tries during the 2011 Pacific Nations Cup, three against the
hosts and one against the Portugal.
Tuculet is the Sharks 16th signing of the season, and becomes the only Argentinean player in the side. Besides Tuculet other Sharks signing for the next season includes Luther Burrell
from Leeds Carnegie, Charlie Amesbury from Newcastle Falcons, Hendre Fourie from Leeds Carnegie, Mark Easter from Northampton Saints, Joe Ward from London Wasps, Kearnan Myall from Leeds Carnegie, Tony Buckley from Munster, Andrei Ostrikov from Stade Aurillac,
Sam Tuitupou from Munster, Alasdair Dickinson from Gloucester, Tasesa Lavea from Clermont, Richie Vernon from Glasgow Warriors, Scott Mathie from Leeds Carnegie, Andy Powell from London Wasps and Fraser McKenzie from Edinburgh Rugby.
Majority of these players belong to Leeds Carnegie, who parted ways with the club, following their departure/relegation from the top level Premiership at the end of the 2010/11 Aviva Premiership
season.
