Sale Sharks sign a new two-year deal with MBNA as their Principal Partner – Rugby news
Manchester based English professional Rugby Union club, Sale Sharks, has signed a new deal with United Kingdom’s largest credit card lending and financial institution MBNA, which is a subsidiary of Bank of America Corporation, as their Principal Partner.
Sales Sharks competes in the English Premiership championship and in different European competition.
The agreement between Sale Sharks and MBNA will result in the featuring of MBNA logo on the club’s different shirts. The confirmation of the deal was made on Aviva Premiership’s official website on Friday, July 1.
Europe Card Executive for Bank of America, Ian O'Doherty, has expressed his excitement at becoming the principal partner of the Sale Sharks.  He added, “ As Principal Partner we will be much more than a club sponsor; we want to support the growth and success
of the club on and off the field and maximise the opportunities this partnership offers both the club and our business.”
Sale Sharks' Chief Executive Officer Mick Hogan has expressed his satisfaction at furthering the two-year working relationship with the bank.  He said, “It is tremendously exciting news that MBNA has agreed to become the Principal Partner of Sale Sharks.
It is very encouraging that they have decided to extend their support with the club by becoming our new Principal Partners.”
MBNA bank headquarters are based in the North West region of England and had previously been engaged with the Sale Sharks in different sponsorship activities. MBNA is also the sponsor of the Main Stand at Edgeley Park which is the Sale Sharks home ground.
Speaking on the occasion, O'Doherty has reiterated the bank’s sports investment initiatives and termed the investment as mutually beneficial for both bank and sports.  He said, “Sports investment has been part of the Bank of America culture for the better
part of 130 years and this rich heritage is grounded in the bank's belief that sports can bring individuals, communities and the country closer together, while making opportunities possible for customers, clients and communities.”
Mick Hogan spoke about the timely inking of the deal and further added, “With the additional support from MBNA everyone is working to get Sale Sharks back to the heights we enjoyed several years ago. We look forward to working with all the staff at MBNA
for the benefit of both their organisation and the on-field success of the Sharks.”
Sharks new shirts bearing the MBNA logo will be revealed later in the month.
