Some terrorism trials have bordered on the fanatical.  Particularly in Iraq.  See: "The assasination of Tony Blair" for a good example of that.

Homosexuals in the military is the same sort of fanatical witch hunt.  Although the 'Don't Ask' situation proclaims to not be a 'witch hunt' the actual implementation has gone crazy.  Particularly with the Arab translators that were kicked out a few years ago.
