Sales and Marketing Jobs in Aus.. What are they like?

Hi All!

Im moving to Sydney from NZ soon and want to get a job straight away. Because Im quite young and don't have too much workplace experience I'll need to find a job quickly to get me started... and I know people are racing for jobs in Sydney so it will be very competitive.

There have been alot of jobs avertised on SEEK lately advertising for Sales and Marketing, Promotions....etc with headings like this...

"NO#1 THIS WEEK ** NO EXPERIENCE REQD!! Marketing and Customer Sales Promotions"

Just wondering if anyone has done this type of employment before or knows what this kind of job involves.....

That advertisement sounds like door to door selling, to me.

That's the type of advertisement Kirby vacuum cleaners use.

They pay on a commission only basis, no matter what they promise you.

Their "staff" turnover is extremely high.

The clue is the "NO EXPERIENCE REQD" statement.

I could be wrong but I don't think so.

It's not a job I'd encourage anyone I know to apply for.

I'm sorry I've sounded all doom and gloom, but it's better to know than to be caught by these preditors who promise everything and deliver less than nothing.

From my experience those jobs are usually door to door or telephone sales. They can also be Shopping Centre promotion teams, the ones that stand in the centre trying to force products on people. generally they are comission based and have high KPI's
