Salford City Reds confirms resignation of Matt Parish from head coach position
Salford City Reds confirmed on Thursday, November 17, that Matt Parish, the head coach at the franchise, has handed in his resignation from the position he joined six months ago.
The reason behind his departure has not been disclosed but it was confirmed to the he made the move because of personal reasons, which required him to leave with an immediate effect.
The official statement confirming Parish’s resignation said that Parish leaves the club in a much stronger position, "with what the club believes to be one of the strongest and most innovative coaching set-ups in Super League. Everyone at the club would
like to thank Matt for his efforts whilst at the Reds, and we wish him well in his future coaching career. Matt would like us to pass on his thanks and appreciation to the Reds fans for their fantastic support during his time in England, and to the players
and coaching staff for their hard work and dedication."
The officials at club also confirmed that there will be no further comments on this matter. However, once the updates in the coaching staff are made, the club will make them public through another official announcement.
The Australian was previously shouldering responsibilities at New South Wales as an assistant to Ricky Stuart, which he had to let go off to join in as the caretaker coach at Reds succeeding Shaun McRae. During his stay witht the franchise, he hired Sean
Long as his assistant, who brought in a rugby union players from Preston Grasshoppers, which was not a welcomed induction.
When Salford chairman, John Wilkinson, was hiring Parish for the given coaching position he approved of his uptake, keeping in view the long term perspective which badly failed. The coach started experiencing troubles at his new home, within first six-months
of his stay, which concluded with a resignation at this odd time.
With this uncalled for resignation from coaching position at Reds, the club is now on the look-out for a suitable replacement as soon as possible. Reds are running short on time with the fast-approaching pre-season training already underway. The club is
also all set to move to its new home in Barton.
