Salicylic Acid followed by Retin-A?

I have some very deeply blocked pores on my face which are very deep under the skin. I am trying to unblock them by using an over the counter Salicylic Acid Peel (a BHA) which is fairly mild and would like to follow up with some prescription stength Retin - A.

Do you think this woul be an okay way of treating these deeply blocked pores?

  1. You might experience some "burns" from the chemicals as well as inflamation by combining them.

Would you consider using the Retin A tonight, and then the Salicylic Acid tomorrow? The Salicylic Acid is a natural anti-inflamotry so it would be better to use it several hours after the Retin A - and it would help to dry up any oozing or blisters that you might get from the Retin A (that often happens when you use too much of it).

If they are blackheads - get the Biore stips - they are the best at pulling "stuff" out of your pores.  After the Biore - use the salicylic acid.

  2. Hi Molly

The two shouldn't be mixed. It won't be a good reaction. Talk to the cosmetic department and ask what products you can safely use to help your clogged pores.

It may also benefit you to have a facial done at a reputable spa.
