Can saline solution be used to combat dryness, caused as a result of contact lens wear? I already have the proper solution to clean and store the lenses but is saline OK to use for the dryness, or should I buy artificial tears?

  1. Saline solutine is certainly better than nothing. It will moisten the eye. But the artificial tears works the best because it's meant to be a longer lasting lubricant. Also if you are bothered alot by dry eyes, you can take a supplement - flax seed oil capsules. I suffered dry eye for months after a severe eye infection and my optometrist suggested flaxseed and it helped a lot. Good luck!

  2. Saline is all right in a pinch, but artificial tears are meant to combat dryness and tend to last longer after application than plain saline would.

  3. I would only use saline for cleaning and refreshing the lenses.

If your eyes are that dry I would go back to the optician as this isnt good for your eyes. They can suggest a different type of lens to help. They had to do this for me and a good optician should examine you and sort this out.

  4. no, it doesn;t help ind ry eyes. instead use the refresh plus eyedrop. it is good for dry eyes.
