Question:

Salkantay Trek to Machu Picchu, Peru?

I am going to Peru in May with 2 friends and the inca trail is booked up, so after looking into alternatives we decided on the 5 day Salkantay trek. We are looking to book this and I would like to get some feedback on companies people have used, even if it is just for the standard inca trail.

Any feedback on:

Peru for less

or

Chimu?

  1. The trek of salkantay 5+4 ... also it ends in Aguas Calientes town and machu picchu, is not a route inka, is nature and high mountains, if you like and enjoys to raise mountains do it.

9 days in very high mountains it is enough, you have other alternatives like lares  and Choquekirao that don't end in Machu Picchu or Aquas Clients

You have so much  to see there and  the time always is short . well.. if you need help or tourist information this is my e-mail drees  miriam_macedo@hotmail.com or miriaminkawasi@hotmail.com .... bye

  2. If you're not in shape, don't do it.  It's hard enough walking in high altitiude, let alone hiking

  3. My wife lived in Peru for 15 years and the one thing she always lauged about was the tourists who came to Peru and thought they could walk up the Chaskie trails like they were on level ground.... If you plan to walk the trails, remember they are AT ALTITUDE and you need to be in good shape, physically, if you plan to walk them

  4. Hi

We have done the lares, ausangate and short inca trek over the last 2 years.. We used http://www.sunriseperu.com/salkantay_mac... for this.

also we used them for the sacred valley tour and my inlaws just used them for their tours and treks last month

    we hightly recommend them
