Sally Fitzgibbons, Courtney Conlogue and Georgia Fish move to next round: Day 2 of ASP 6-Star Swatch Girls Pro France
Several stellar performances took place on day two of the ASP 6-Star Swatch Girls Pro France in round three at Les Bourdaines, France, on Wednesday, June 2.
In the opening heat of round three, Courtney Conlogue of USA grabbed first spot with a score of 12.45 out of 20. Meanwhile, the surfer from New Zealand, Paige Hareb came second with 9.90 points. Nage Melamed of Hawaii settled for third place with 8.50 points,
meanwhile Erica Hosseini of USA wound up fourth with 5.85 points. Both, Melamed and Hosseini have been eliminated from the competition.
The Australian surfer, Georgia Fish topped heat 2 with a score of 9.50, while Pauline Ado of France clinched second spot with a score of 9.25. Ado's teammate Alizee Arnaud finished third with 7.60 points and joined Freya Prumm of Australia, who scored 6.05
points, in the bottom two.
Meanwhile, in heat 3, Nikita Robb (ZAF) led her group with 10.00 points off two waves. Laurina McGrath of Australia claimed second spot with a total score of 8.75. McGrath's teammate, Felicity Palmateer trailed her compatriot by 0.50 points as she finished
with a score of 8.25. Joana Rocha of Portugal could only manage a miserable 0.70 points and thus, got eliminated along with Palmateer.
The Australasian surfer, Sally Fitzgibbons snatched the highest heat score of 15.40 in heat 4 of round three. Lee Ann Curren of France claimed second spot with a total score of 12.30. Both surfers have qualified for the next round of the event. Wini Paul
and Joanne Defay came third and fourth respectively and find themselves being eliminated from the competition.
In heat 5, Justine Dupont of France took first place with a decent score of 12.40, while Suelen Naraisa of Brazil wound up second with 10.70. Sarah Mason of New Zealand settled for third with 10.00 points and Coco Ho of Hawaii finished fourth with a total
score of 7.90. As a result, Mason and Ho will now just be mere spectators of the event.
Cannelle Bulard (REU) won heat 6 with a total score of 9.00, whereas Rebecca Woods of Australia came second with a score of 6.55. In this relatively low-scoring heat, Carina Duarte of Portugal wound up third with a score of 5.90 and joined Tarryn Chudleigh
(ZAF) on the road to elimination.
Alana Blanchard of Hawaii clinched heat 7 with a winning score of 13.15 out of 20, while Lakey Peterson of USA claimed heat 8 with a decent display of surfing, earning 11.25 points in the process.
Stephanie Gilmore of Australia picked up the top spot in heat 9 with 14.75 points, whereas another Australian surfer, Phillipa Anderson clinched heat 10 with 9.85.
Malia Manuel of Hawaii finished first in heat 11 with 12.85. Finally, the Peru surfer, Sophia Mulanovich won heat 12 with a total of 11.90.
All surfers who landed in the Top 2 of their respective heats have qualified for the next round of the ASP 6-Star Swatch Girls Pro France. The third and fourth place finishers have been eliminated from the competition.
