Sally Foster grabs Women’s 100m breaststroke gold – 2012 Salnikov Cup
Sally Foster of Australia grabbed gold medal of the Women’s 100m breaststroke on opening day of the 2012 International Vladimir Salnikov Cup in St. Petersburg, Russia, on Friday, December 21.
Foster showered her expertise in the breaststroke discipline and stifled hopes of her opponents by occupying gold medal of the race.
With her invincible efforts, Foster remained only an inch faster from her closest challenger as she rushed her way towards the finishing wall for gold medal with a timing of 1 minute and 06.24 seconds.
The champion was chased by Valentina Artemyeva of Russia, who was 0.24 seconds slower and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal by touching the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 06.48 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by Ganna Dzerkal of Ukraine, who was 0.24 seconds apart and proved her eligibility for bronze medal of the race by touching the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 06.72 seconds.
Fourth position holder of the race was obtained by Maria Temnikova of Russia, who was hardly half a body length behind and transpired on the finishing end with an effort of 1 minute and 07.03 seconds.
Temnikova was chased by Theresa Michalak of Germany, who was 0.57 seconds slower from her foregoing finisher and surfaced on the wall fifth place with the timing of 1 minute and 07.60 seconds.
Sixth fastest spot of the event was secured by Mariya Liver of Ukraine, who stayed 0.83 seconds behind and emerged on the finishing end for sixth position with an effort of 1 minute and 08.43 seconds.
Liver was trailed by Irina Novikova of Russia, who was only an inch apart and concluded her race in seventh place by producing a time of 1 minute and 08.53 seconds.
Last spot of the event was obtained by Olga Tovstogan of Ukraine, who stayed only a half body length slower from her former finisher and posted an effort of 1 minute and 09.16 seconds.
Furthermore, Foster was extremely happy with her title claiming effort and received medal at the prize distribution ceremony of the event.
