Sally Foster seizes Women’s 200m breaststroke gold – EnergyAustralia SC Championships
Sally Foster of Central Aquatic seized gold medal of the Women’s 200m breaststroke on final day of the 2012 EnergyAustralia Short Course Championships at Challenge Stadium in Perth on Sunday, September 16.
Foster met expectations of her supporters by dominating the playoff of the eight-lap breaststroke discipline. With her impeccable efforts in the breaststroke discipline, Foster sustained her best qualifying position in the playoff and secured gold medal of the event.
Foster continued her gruelling efforts in the distant breaststroke discipline and stepped on the medal rostrum for gold medal by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 21.75 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Jessica Hansen of MLC Aquatic, VIC, who remained 4.23 seconds behind and tapped the finishing blockade for silver medal by reporting an effort of 2 minutes and 25.98 seconds.
The second position holder was traced by Jenna Strauch of Melbourne VIC, who stayed 0.29 seconds slower and transpired on the finishing end as third position holder by submitting a time of 2 minutes and 26.27 seconds.
Fourth finest spot of the event was obtained by Ashlea Gierke of Noosa, QLD, who remained 1.04 seconds slower from overpowering the third position holder and tapped the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 27.31 seconds.
Gierke was traced by Lorna Tonks of Redcliffe League, who stayed 0.29 seconds away from her preceding swimmer and tapped the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 27.60 seconds.
Sixth best spot of the event was obtained by Aisling Scott of Nudgee Brothers, who stayed 1.23 seconds away from her former finisher and touched the wall with a timing of 2 minutes and 28.83 seconds.
Scott was chased by Kate Dimou of Nudgee Brothers, who stayed 0.22 seconds slower and hit the wall with an effort of 2 minutes and 29.05 seconds for seventh place.
Dimou was followed by Montana Sansby of Waterworx, QLD, who remained nearly three body lengths behind and clocked a time of 2 minutes and 31.84 seconds for eighth position.
In addition, Foster collected medal for her exhausting efforts at the victory ceremony of the event.
