Sally Pearson to appear in Monaco with hopes of building her winning streak on the track
Sally Pearson, the 24-year-old Australian athlete who specialises in the 100m run and 100m hurdle races, is back to participate at the Samsung Diamond League Herculis Meeting 2011. Appearing at the event, the young runner believes that she can add up to
the already possessed Samsung Diamond League titles she won at the meets in Lausanne and Birmingham.
Pearson, the silver medal winner of the 2008 Summer Olympics, is Australia’s national record holder for the 100m hurdling competition. Moreover, she is also the second fastest runner in a 100m meet for the country. In 2008, while finishing second on the
podium at the Summer Olympics, she clocked an impressive 12.64 seconds.
Pearson, the gold medal winner of the 2003 World Youth Championships, while talking about her appearance at Monaco, said that after her remarkably successful European season, she had been longing to perform at the Stade Louis II Stadium. The venue has already
been lucky for her, as it has rewarded her with three top podium finishes, which also include two Oceania Area records.
The young performer, who has been into athletics since she was eight years old, is of the view that given her form and fitness, she will gradually unfold her potential and will not disappoint her spectators by the time she will make it into the IAAF World
Championships in Daegu.
Huge ambitions demand for huge efforts and also call for emotional stress caused by the fear of facing some of the most formidable competitors on the field. However, Pearson, who has always been a cool performer, in context of her aims for the Daegu event,
said that she was not feeling excited or nervous. In the global athletics event, the Australian runner is going to encounter Kellie Wells and Danielle Carruthers.
Talking about her preparations for the big event, Pearson said, “I feel ready to take on the challenge. I am in very good shape and training is going very well. My preparation has been ideal. I feel all I need to do now is just keep healthy and let my body
do what it can do.”
As far as her performance in Monaco is concerned, looking over her previous record, it is evident that she has been an emerging athlete at the Samsung Diamond League events. Be it Lausanne or Birmingham, her performance has never been disappointing and she
has always managed to give her opponents a tough time. Now, when she also aims at giving her rivals a tough message for the global athletics event, it seems that her performance at the Monaco event will really be worth watching.
