Wife of Stade Rennais owner, François Pinault, had nothing but words of praise for Les Rogues et Noirs and compared the match to the story of David and Goliath.
A result that seemed to be a nightmare for Les Parisiens, ended up being a heroic feat for Les Rogues et Noirs, one that has been praised by many people including the wife of the owner of Stade Rennais.
The game between Paris Saint-Germain and Stade Rennais took place in Parc des Princes on 17th November, 2012. A victory for PSG would have ensured their dominance at the top of the table, while a loss would not sit well with the club owners or
their reputation.
PSG was without their striker, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Zlatan-Ibrahimovic-c38029, who scored 10 goals in 10 games so far. His absence was certainly felt as Les Parisiens lost, despite their dominance throughout the game.
Romain Alessandrini scored the opener, which was quickly cancelled by Nene’s goal in the 21st minute. It wasn’t lost before 10 men SRFC was able to come up with another goal, this time by Julien Ferret, who scored the goal that sealed the result
in favour of his team.
The game ended PSG 1-2 SRFC at the Parc des Princes. It was a surprising win for the Rennes based club, as they were playing with only 9 men for most of the second half of the game. Les Rouge-et-Blue was unable to score despite the several chances they created,
and ended up loosing their second game of the season.
Salma Hayek was nothing but ecstatic about the result and was not hesitant about expressing it. All she had were words of praise for the team and how happy she was that they were able to win against a team of PSG’s calibre. She even referred to the game
as David vs Goliath. She said:
“I am happy, not only because we won, but because it was heroic. PSG is a great team, it's a little like David against Goliath.”
Even the team’s manager, Frederic Antonetti, was content with the performance of the players. He went on to term the victory as heroic, and was glad by the achievement. He said:
“We managed an extraordinary feat. I wish all the club enjoys. I dedicate this to all people at the club.”
The victory leaves SRFC at 6th spot in Ligue 1 with 22 points from 13 games played. Although, the team is content with their victory but they would have to suffer the absence of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jean-II-Makoun-c18139 and Benoit Costil for their upcoming matches.
