Salman Butt gives the name of an Ice-cream parlour as his Alibi
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755’s suspended former Test Captain Salman Butt in a bid to prove that the money found in his room by the English police was clean, has used an ice-cream parlour in South London as his alibi.
Talking to a British News Channel Butt said, “As you guys are from England you can go there any time to Tooting. I believe the name is Afters and the manager, the people working over there, they will tell you that I had to
do the opening of the ice cream parlour along with Mohammad Aamer. “And that’s what we were paid for.” According to Butt, he was paid 2,500 pounds for the opening of that particular ice-cream parlour.
The suspected cricketer said that some of the money was from different sponsorships and the rest was his daily allowance paid to him by the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB). He insisted that because it was a long tour so almost 11,000
pounds found in his room was his allowance and since he was the skipper so he got an extra entertainment allowance, which summed up to 4,500 pounds.
Butt totally rubbished the claims suggesting that he might have influenced Mohammad Amir and Mohammad Asif to bowl deliberate no balls in a match. He clarified that there was absolutely no way that he could exert that sort of influence
on these two pacers. Butt said, “These kind of people do not let others decide their roles.”
The three players are currently suspended from playing all formats of cricket and are preparing to get their names cleared in a hearing by the International Cricket Council (ICC) in Doha, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Qatar-c2986, which begins on 6th January.
Salman Butt and Mohammad Amir filed an appeal against their suspension, which was rejected after a hearing in Dubai by the ICC. After this rejection, the players reacted strongly against the cricketing body and accused it of being
biased and unjust. These allegations did not go down well with the ICC and the PCB, which caused the board to suspend the central contracts of the trio immediately and cautioned them from giving statements against the ICC.
The hearing in Doha is going to be the last chance for the players to come out clean, failing to do so will most certainly lead to life bans from cricket for the players, ending their playing days immediately. If the ICC gives
a ruling against the trio then they will not be able to challenge the verdict of the tribunal in any court of law in the world. This is a do or die situation for the tainted players and this is the time for them to gather all the evidence that maybe used in
their favour.
