Disgraced Pakistan player Salman Butt has welcomed the resumption of bilateral cricketing ties between India and Pakistan after a gap of five years.
Butt was banned by the International Cricket Council (http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013.
"It is indeed good news but given that we are playing a bilateral series after five years efforts should have been made to also have a Test in the series because the significance of a Test match is very different from one-dayers or T20 matches," Butt said.
The former left-hander also believes that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) must ensure that to convince its counterpart in sending their team to Pakistan next year.
"Definitely a bilateral series is only possible because the governments support this concept now. But the PCB after sending its team to India should now try to get a commitment from the Indian board for a return tour next year," Butt said.

The recent progress has been widely appreciated all around the world by cricket greats and fans alike, who wants to see the traditional adversaries renew their rivalry on a cricketing field.
Earlier this week, Indian Board had announced to resume the cricket ties between the two nations and invited Pakistan to play a short-series (3 ODIs and 2 T20Is) later this year.
During this period the Indo-Pak encounters happened occasionally, in international tournaments, the last time both sides met in a bilateral series was in 2007 when Pakistan toured India to play a Test series.
Pakistan fans have been deprived to enjoy the traditional rivalry after the http://www.senore.com/Cricket/India-c750 decided to sever all sporting ties with its neighbour. Later, a terrorist attack on the Sri Lankan team in March 2009 closed the doors of international
cricket in Pakistan.
"It is the government`s duty to guarantee security of touring teams and without their assurance no team will come to Pakistan including India,” Butt added.
