Salman Butt positive about international comeback
The former Test captain of Pakistan, Salman Butt is eager to make a comeback to the international arena and has not stopped practice despite suspension by the ICC for his alleged involvement in spot-fixing in the midst of the Lord’s Test at the end of August,
2010.
The Test captain Butt and his two teammates, the new-ball pair of pacers, Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Aamer, were banned from all forms of the cricket after they were charged with various transgressions under Article 2 of the anti-corruption code of conduct
on earlier last month September.
The allegations followed an article published in a British tabloid ‘The News of the World’ which claimed that Amir and Asif had bowled deliberate no-balls. The International Cricket Council's anti-corruption and security unit (ASCU) carried out investigations
regarding the "spot-fixing" allegations and the bowlers along with their then captain Salman Butt were suspended from all cricket – providing the players the right of appeal.
All the three players have filed appeals against the ICC's suspension and will have their appeals heard in Doha, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Qatar-c2986 on 30th and 31st of this month. According to the International Cricket Council, head of the governing body's code
of conduct commission, Mr. Michael Beloff, would hear the appeals of the suspended cricketers.
Butt, 26, kept his lips closed when asked to comment on the spot-fixing allegations but was hopeful things would go well for him in the near future.
"I have been keeping my fitness", he told AFP. "If my suspension is lifted on October 31, I will be available to play for Pakistan from the next day", said the former captain.
Salman opined that he is eager to play for http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Pakistan-c755 once again and that the spot-fixing allegations have derailed his cricketing career.
"The way I was playing and leading the team was a very good stage of my career but these allegations have derailed it", he said.
Salman Butt had taken over Pakistan’s team as Test skipper after the tour captain, Shahid Khan Afridi, announced his retirement from Test cricket following Pakistan's humiliating defeat against Kangaroo’s at the famous Lord's venue.
Butt’s very Test match as captain saw Pakistan winning the Test against Australian side after 15 years breaking the 13-Test match losing string against the Aussies.
The whole spot-fixing episode, according to Butt, was a learning experience for him.
"It has taught me a lot about how to deal with the people around you, and you get to recognise people... who is your friend and who is not".
http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 that kicks off in UAE later this month, said that he has once again started his daily two-hour training and practice routine so he can be ready for a comeback when ever allowed by
the ICC. "I am working hard and doing my bit. The conditions in Lahore and the UAE are the same so I am preparing hard on playing spin".
