Former Pakistan skipper Salman Butt has been released from prison in the UK, having served 7 months after he was convicted and sentenced to 30 months in jail in November 2011 for his involvement in a spot-fixing scandal.
“He is due to arrive back in Pakistan later this evening and will begin rebuilding his life and hopes to return to cricket,” confirmed the cricketer’s lawyer, http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Yasin-Yonus-Patel-c98237, earlier today.
Butt was named as the orchestrator of a plot to bowl deliberate no-balls during a Test match against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mohammad-Amir-c76675, who were also jailed, but have since been released.
In addition to the prison sentence, Butt has also been handed a ban from the sport for ten years (with five suspended) by an http://www.senore.com/Cricket/ICC-World-Cup-2011-c100625 tribunal. However, owing to the UK government's early release scheme for foreign nationals, his prison sentence has come to an
end 23 months earlier, although laws dictate that he cannot return to Britain for 10 years.
Zimbabwe skipper http://www.senore.com/Cricket/BRM-Taylor-c1200 has praised his team for their effective all-round performance which saw them securing a clinical 29-run win over the formidable South African team in the 3rd match of the ongoing Twenty20 Triangular Series, played
on June 20 at the Harare Sports Club.
“We got both departments right today ... The toss did play a part, but we took full advantage of it with the 100 opening partnership,” he said. “We changed our bowlers well today and we are all extremely happy.”
A powerful batting performance by openers http://www.senore.com/Cricket/CB-Mpofu-c1219 (4-0-20-3) and Graeme
Cremer (4-0-29-3) rounded off the performance with an intense attack, resulting in a surprising victory for the home team.
The Pakistan Cricket Board is counting on their proposed series with India, and the still-in-progress plan for the launch of a T20 league, to overcome a massive shortfall of 70 crore Pakistani rupees (which amounts to approximately US$7.5 million)
in their 2011-2012 budget.
The budget deficit was confirmed at a meeting of the governing council in Lahore this week, and a governing board official, in conversation with
ESPNcricinfo, claimed that it was largely owing to the fact that Pakistan were “forced to play away from home”.
“But we have plans and the board is optimistic that by the end of this fiscal year, [even if we do] not cover [the deficit], we will be able to reduce the gap,” he added.

sponsorships.
