what is it called when you go surfing for too long, than your skin stings from all the salt.

I agree, no real scientific name for salt sting syndrome.  But salt naturally dries everything up, so it soaks all of the moisture from you.  So you're skin is probably a little bit more vulnerable to the elements after you go to the beach.  That's why we probably feel like it's burning.  Just a thought.

  3. I've had that plenty of times and it never really bothered me. I usually just go home a take a shower. Sometimes I like to just quickly rinse my wetsuit with a hose. Nothing really involved, just a quick squirt down.

I don't believe that there is an actual scientific name for it, but I have had a similar experience.   The stinging comes from the salt that has stuck to your skin after the water drys.  After the water drys....the salt remains and drys out on your skin.  Just shower down really well after your next sessions.  If youre wearing a wetsuit, I would suggest a long sleeve rash guard also.   If youre in board shorts only, I would get one of those wetsuit tops only.
