Question:

Salt water vs snail/slug?

slugs always keep their body moist. so they usually come out after rain. and i heard that if you put some salt on a slug, it would be dehydrated and melted by the process of Osmosis. When you salt a slug or snail, this increases the concentration of salt on the surface (outside) of the unfortunate subject. From a different perspective, this is DECREASING the water concentration outside the slug/snail.

The process of osmosis is the movement of water from an area of high water concentration through a permeable membrane to an area of lower water concentration. The water INSIDE the slug MOVES OUTSIDE the slug, in order to reach an equilibrium concentration on both sides of the skin.

so what if you drop some salt water on it?

  1. Same thing Slower I'd assume.

They also like beer nad if you put some out they will got to drink it and drown if you have it about half an inch deep. Least they die happy!

  2. Same effect slower process because the salt is diluted.
