Saltwater Aquarium Starter Help!?

Question

My tank that i have is a 30 gallon and i want to turn it into a saltwater aquarium. So what i planned to do is to drain all the water, dispose of all the rocks,and really clean out the tank so it looks new. I may even get a new filter. What i really need is some basic info on what to get for the tank so i can get going in the right direction. Please no links or anything, I'm really looking for some personal experiences here, please explain everything so ill know what to do. This is my 1st time trying this so id really appreciate all the info you can give!!

-Test kits for nitrite, nitrate, ammonia, and pH

-Extra powerhead for mixing saltwater

-Extra heater for mixing saltwater
