Saltwater Compatability?

I have an empty 55 gallon tank would these work together, a humu humu trigger, a snowflake eel, a couple small damsels, and a chocolate chip starfish? It said on the website that the eel and the trigger are less agressive than other types of eels and triggers.

  1. Well, everything but the eel would be okay together... less aggressive or not, snowflakes will grow to about 3' and need at least 75 gallons. They are also predatory, so small fish will be eaten.

  2. You definitely can have the eel with the triggerfish, but I don't know about the eel and the trigger being less aggressive. Put it this way, the Triggerfish will eat your starfish, that is why they have beaks, because they feed off of these crustaceans, so I will not recommend having any starfish, sea urchins, clams, oysters, or anything that the beak can crush.

Triggerfishes tend to be very aggressive and if you don't monitor, they can tend to eat other fishes. However, It'll be just fine with the eel, as for damsel fishes, that is not a good idea, although some damsels are aggressive, with that trigger inside of the tank, your damsels will disappear because I have the experience with the Humu Humu triggerfish, and they are very very aggressive.

Anyways, if you plan on doing this, make sure that you have enough rockwork in your tank for your damsels to hide, so that way they don't get eaten by the eel or the triggerfish.

I hope that this helps, thanks for asking...................
