Question:

Saltwater Rinse After Tooth Extraction?

I didn't get any instructions from my dentist. Yeah. He sucks. So I've just been reading things online. Can I do the saltwater rinse if I had prolonged bleeding? I got the tooth pulled about 25 hours ago but it didn't stop bleeding until about 11pm last night. - so like 15 hours ago. Will it be ok to rinse now? Or will I risk disturbing the clot and possibly getting a dry socket? And what is the "recipe" for this rinse. Thank you much!

  1. rinse very gently the warm salt water helps heal

  2. It should be fine, just lean your head over a sink to let the water run out, don't spit it out like mouthwash. Use water as hot as you can stand in your mouth, and about 2 teaspoons per cup of water. If you have any other questions, please let me know.
