  1. Definatly U.V lighting. Yeah, its expensive but you need it. Do some research on google to find out more.

  2. sam, shut up..

what type of reef were you thinking of doing?

soft coral? LPS? SPS? clams? anenomes?

unfortunately 29 gallon tank kinda suck when trying to find a light for.. most companies make 24'' (20 gallon) and 36'' (30 gallon) fixture.. but the 24'' ones usually have some way of  extending to fit close sized tanks..

Hagen makes a T5 unit called GLO that comes in a dual bulb fixture.. fro the 24''er it's about 80 bucks.. not bad..

of course you could get a halide light, if you wanted SPS, clams, and anenomes.. but same problem.. and they are more pricey.. my 24'' unit cost about $450 but is great.. comes with 2 PC actinic bulb a 250 watt 10,000K halide, and 2 LED lunarlights

if you were going this way i would recomend a setup like that.. the brand i have is corallife but there are many out there
