The http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926 international has revealed that when he joined Les Parisiens in the summer of 2011,
he had no other option but to move abroad
The 25-year-old has stated that the chance to play for a club like PSG was too hard to resist and when PSG contacted him, he didn’t think twice and signed for the French giants.
The former Palermo man has established himself as Les Parisiens’ first-choice shot stopper after signing for the cash-laden club from Paris in the summer of 2011. The Ligue 1 heavy spenders had to pay only 4 million Euros for his services back then, and
the player has now revealed that not many Serie A clubs were interested in him when he arrived at Parc des Princes.
While talking to reporters at a press conference, the Italian stated that when he was playing for Palermo in Serie A, he didn’t want to leave at first but things got complicated and he eventually had to depart.
“I had no other offers at the time, I played for a mid-to-top table side and, initially, I didn’t even want to leave.”
The 26-year-old, who was Italy’s goalkeeper in Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899, said that it was hard to leave Italy and move to a completely new league. However, to play for a club like Paris Saint-Germain was once in a lifetime opportunity
and Sirigu couldn’t turn it down.
“At that moment it was difficult for me to stay in Serie A. I didn’t want to go, but some things happened and when PSG and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Leonardo-c22056 outlined their project I realised that at the age of 24 it was an opportunity I couldn’t turn down.”
The Italian custodian added that he was only 24 when he moved to Paris and now he feels that it was a good decision on his behalf. Paris is an amazing city and Sirigu is happy to be a part of such an amazing club.
“It’s also important to live overseas in your life. I was 24 at the time and I felt that I was ready for an experience abroad. I’m happy in Paris.”
