Sam Allardyce: I'm more suited to Real Madrid
Blackburn Rovers boss Sam Allardyce has touted himself as being capable of succeeding in the biggest jobs in club football, including English Premier League outfit Manchester United and La Liga giants Real Madrid.
Allardyce added that he and Fulham manager Mark Hughes had not been given enough time to succeed at bigger clubs. Hughes was booted out of Manchester City last season while Allardyce lasted less than six months at Newcastle United.
The 55-year-old told reporters today that he would have no trouble in winning a domestic title if he were afford the resources the likes of Inter Milan and Chelsea can boast.
'I'd win league every time with Manchester United'
He said that: “I'm not suited to Bolton or Blackburn. I would be more suited to Inter or Real Madrid. It wouldn't be a problem to me to go and manage those clubs because I would win the double or the league every time. Give me Manchester United or Chelsea
and I would do the same, it wouldn't be a problem.”
Allardyce also revealed that he had a great deal of sympathy for Hughes, who is a former Blackburn player and manager and has enjoyed an unbeaten start to the EPL season with Fulham, as he was not given enough of a chance to guide City into the top four
of the league.
He said of Hughes that: "His Manchester City reign obviously was not long enough. A little bit like me at Newcastle, but I didn't last quite as long as (Hughes), though. He was given the chance and unfortunately at that stage of his career they decided to
have a change. He'll be very disappointed because they only lost two games, I think. But that is the way it is sometimes, there's a perception that other people can do better than you, but often the reality is not the case.”
