Sam Allardyce attacks Premier League
Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce has launched a seething attack on the Premier League following an injury to Morten Gamst Pedersen.
Pedersen was taken off during the second-half of 2-0 win against Aston Villa after he told the bench he could feel his hamstring tightening. Allardyce has blamed the Premier League for piling up too many
games over the autumn and winter period.
"Morten's injury is a legacy of too many games in such a short period of time.
He played in every game building up to the international week, then played for Norway and scored a great goal before playing again here (against Villa)," Allardyce said according to Sky Sports.
Allardyce has pointed out that the injury has to be down to fatigue because there was no sign of a problem to club medics. Pedersen could now be forced to miss at least
two weeks while Blackburn treats him for the injury.
"It is a fatigue injury, like the one we got with Brett Emerton. I have criticised
the Premier League for structuring the fixtures the way they have, I think it's wrong to have a three-game Premier League week before an international week," he added.
Allardyce has also suggested that the Premier League does not give enough thought and consideration to smaller teams in the top-flight of English football. Blackburn, and other
sides such as Blackpool, does not have huge playing squads.
"There should be a little bit more thought given to the squads of the lesser teams.
We have ended up down to the bare bones and bringing in players with not much experience.
It's all right people saying you have got to put them in sometime and somewhere, but you live in my position and try to live with that," said Allardyce.
Betting advice
Blackburn is going to miss Pedersen because the Norwegian has been in very good goalscoring form. However, his absence from the side should only be short-term. Back Blackburn
to win any game where Pedersen is in the side and controlling the left wing or attack of the team.
