Sam Allardyce sacked as Blackburn manager while Sir Alex terms the decision ridiculous
In an astonishing turn of events Blackburn Rovers have sacked Sam Allardyce from the post of the manager of Blackburn Rovers Football Club.
Blackburn Rovers had just been bought last month by an Indian group of investors by the name of Venky’s and yesterday they made their first move as the new owners when they relieved Big Sam of his services.
The decision is surprising for all as Blackburn Rovers have fared pretty well under Sam Allardyce and big Sam himself is quite shocked at the decision.
Blackburn Rovers are currently lying in 13th place in the English Premier League standings and given the patchy performances and the influx of huge money by some of their counter parts, 13th position at Christmas is not at all a bad
one to be in for Rovers but perhaps it is not good enough for the new management of the club, which has higher aspirations.
Along with Allardyce his assistant coach Neil McDonald has also been shown the exit door and the first team coach Steve Kean will be stepping into the breach for the time being.
Sam Allardyce made the switch from Bolton to Blackburn in December 2008 and started the good work immediately, guiding the club out of the relegation and helping them finish at a respectable 10th position
in the league, last season.
This season Blackburn’s form has been patchy at best and the heavy 7-1 defeat at the hands of Manchester United couple of weeks ago must have not gone down well with the new owners.
To make matters worse, Rovers lost at the weekend to a 10 man Bolton side after having equalized in the 86th minute; only to lose the game with a winner just minutes from the final whistle.
The loss to local Lancashire rivals must have been a bitter pill to swallow for the new owners but the players and the manager were still upbeat after the defeat and were ready and willing to bounce back after a dismal run of form. But the sacking of the
manager has now thrown the club into a turmoil, even angering the players.
The decision has prompted a strong response from all corners of the world with Sir Alex Ferguson of Manchester United leading the charge by calling the decision stupid and ridiculous.
"He phoned me at 3.10pm today (Monday) saying 'can I have a cup of tea tonight?' because he was coming to the game". "Then he phones me at half past four and says 'I've been sacked', revealed Ferguson.
"I've never heard of such a stupid decision in all my life, it's absolutely ridiculous," added the Manchester United coach. "I don't know what they're doing up there, but deary me."
The, rather astounded, Scot went on to say, "It confounds common sense to be honest with you. Absolutely ridiculous."
The decision was published on the Rovers website where a statement read “The Venky's Group, owners of Blackburn Rovers Football Club, has today confirmed the departure of manager Sam Allardyce and assistant manager Neil McDonald with immediate effect. First
team coaching duties will be taken on by Steve Kean for the immediate future. We have taken this decision as part of our wider plans and ambitions for the club. We would like to put on record our thanks to Mr Allardyce for his contribution to Blackburn Rovers
Football Club."
Although the decision has been a shock for the football world but Big Sam has insisted that he will not be bogged down by the setback and has vowed to continue servicing the game by seeking a new position at some other club in England.
