Sam Allardyce will be given £5 million to spend by new owners of Blackburn Rovers
Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce will have around only five million pounds to spend if the Venkateshwara Hatcheries takeover deal is completed.
A spokesperson for Venky's has said that the imminent new owners do not expect the club to compete for a top five place in the Premier League. This is seen as justification for the low funds made available.
"We will pump in whatever is needed but the main thing is to get the club back into good shape.
This is an investment and it will grow on its own strength.
We won't need to buy expensive players, we can always lease (loan) them," said Venky's chairperson Anuradha J. Desai.
This may feel like a bit of a kick in the teeth for Blackburn fans but it will not have devastating affect on the team. Blackburn's main priority is to solidify financially
and slowly move up the Premier League table.
Not a big blow
This is not a big blow because Sam Allardyce is used to operating a football club with a lack of finances available. Allardyce turned Bolton Wanderers into one of the most
efficient teams in the country on a shoe-string budget.
Blackburn already has enough quality across the playing squad to remain a Premier League club. Additions will be made but it makes much more sense for the club to sort
out a well planned financial future.
It's encouraging to see potential new owners coming in with a long-term vision for the club. The reluctance to spend tens of millions of pounds means that Venky's respect
the image of Blackburn as a well organised and well run football club and business.
"In the next 10 days we will be announcing it formally [the takeover
deal]. We are not here to compare with anybody. Let us start with a new chapter. There are many plans. Right now there are too many things to be done," added Desai.
Betting advice
Back Blackburn to stay in the Premier League with ease. Ignore any odds available from bookmakers on Allardyce's possible departure from the club.
