Sam Allardyce worried by lack of points
Blackburn Rovers manager Sam Allardyce has admitted he is concerned by the club’s poor start to this year’s Premier League. The Lancashire side currently sit in the relegation zone and
Allardyce admits his side should have at least four points more than they currently possess, but insists if they keep on playing the way they did in their defeat to Chelsea on Saturday, the points will follow.
The 56-year-old told the club’s official website: "We've got to try and produce that sort of performance on a more regular basis and that will then bring us the three points that we are
looking for. We are ten games in so it is a slight concern. We should be on 13 or 14 points at the moment and we haven't managed to achieve that. We are one point less than at this stage last year, so I have to say to the players that we have to be careful
now. We must get results on top of performances. In the end it is going to be about results as always, but if we can continue to perform like we did against Chelsea then I believe the results will come."
Rovers haven’t won any of their last four league encounters so they need to end that run as soon as possible. They were unfortunate not to beat Chelsea on Saturday, but missed numerous
goalscoring opportunities, only to be punished at the other end late on in the game. Few would expect Rovers to be relegated this season, but with the three promoted teams performing so well, there may well be a shock relegation or two this campaign. Allardyce
is renowned for creating hard to beat teams who have a knack of picking up vital wins – especially at home – but the longer they struggle at the foot of the table, the harder it will be to lift themselves out of the danger zone.
