Sam Bradford and the St. Louis Rams cruise to second straight victory
The St. Louis Rams are finally on a winning streak.
The Rams' first round draft pick Sam Bradford got his second consecutive win in the NFL as he led St. Louis past the Seattle Seahawks 20-3 on Sunday. Bradford is playing beyond what was expected from
him since the beginning of the 2010 season, and he has his teammates and the organization excited moving forward. But what is even more impressive, is that Bradford is starting to gain recognition from opposing coaches.
"We got after him pretty good, we chased him around a lot," Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said of Bradford’s ability to read defensive schemes and adjust before the snap . "We're looking at a guy that's
going to be a really big-timer."
Emotions are high for the Rams and their rookie quarterback, who earned their second win of the 2010 season.
"It feels great," Bradford said. "To get ourselves to 2-2 and just be in the conversation for the division lead, I think that's big for this team."
Bradford showed his capabilities from the opening snap as he wasted no time directing his team down the field and into the end zone connecting with receiver Brandon Gibson for a 15-yard touchdown pass.
Both teams exchanged field goals in the second quarter as Rams’ Josh Brown drilled a 30-yard field goal, while Seattle’s’ Olindo Mare's 22-yard field goal got the Seahawks on the board. Seattle was unable
to rattle Bradford and he took full advantage from the protection his offensive line was giving him and found running-back Kenneth Darby for a 21-yard touchdown pass in the third quarter. Rams’ Josh Brown connected on a 31-yard field goal to put the game
out of reach late in the fourth quarter.
Seattle’s offence was dreadful for the majority of the game, and only managed to muster three points against a mediocre Rams’ defence.
"I give them credit, but that's not really the issue for us," Matt Hasselbeck said. "We've got to get better and I've got to get better. I know I can and I know we can."
After a promising start to the season, Hasselbeck was sacked four times and his offence was completely ineffective for four quarters. The Rams did not share Seattle’s inability to move the ball on offence
and get after the quarterback on defence.
It was the first time the Rams have won two games in a row in two seasons.
