Sam Michael says Williams will bring new upgrades for upcoming German Grand Prix – Formula 1 news
Williams’ technical director Sam Michael has recently informed the media that they will bring some new upgrades in their FW33 car for the upcoming German Grand Prix, which will begin from Friday, July 22, 2011 in Nürburgring.
Michael added that he is sure the new updates, which included a new front wing and rear wing will give them better results in Nürburgring this weekend.
After a disappointing recently held British Grand Prix, the team planned to bring some changes for better results in the remainder of the 2011 Formula 1 season. The team is hopeful that they will score some decent points in the second half of the ongoing
season with these upgrades.
Williams had a difficult first half of the season, as both the drivers Rubens Barrichello and Pastor Maldonado were unable to finish their best run on the grid among the strong teams.
In the recently held Silverstone race, the team driver Pastor Maldonado made impressive progress during the Friday Free Practice sessions and the qualifying round. He started his race from the seventh place on the starting grid but ended up in the 14th
spot.
His teammate Rubens Barrichello also made improvements in terms of his performance in the British Grand Prix. He started his Silverstone race from the 15th place on the grid and finished in the 13th place for the team.
The Brazilian discussed the Silverstone race weekend and said, “We made a step forward in the qualifying. We would have had two cars in the top 10. The race pace wasn't there but with a little bit of luck, we would have finished in the top 10 today.”
The 39-year-old driver went on to mention, “I'm still not happy with the whole car balance situation, because it was a lot of new parts for here we've learned a great deal this weekend. So there will be some fine tuning for the next race.”
After the British Grand Prix, Williams are ready to perform strongly on the grid in the upcoming Nürburgring race weekend with the new upgrades in their 2011 car. Let’s see if they can manage that.
