Sam Sexton: David Price has never fought a man with speed and movements like me – Boxing news
Sam Sexton, the former Commonwealth (British Empire) heavyweight champion, recently remarked that David is concerned about his speed and movement adding that he is a good fighter but has not brawl anyone with my agility.
David is scheduled to brawl for the vacant BBBC British heavyweight title in a 12-round bout against Sam Sexton and will headline the Saturday night showdown. The pay-per-view will be televised live on Sky TV on May 19, 2012 and is being organised and promoted
by Frank Maloney of Maloney Promotions.
The ring for the bout will be set up at Aintree Equestrian Centre situated in Liverpool, Merseyside, United Kingdom and the event will also witness Ashley Theophane defend his BBBC British light welterweight title against Darren Hamilton.
Sam recently shared his thoughts about David and the upcoming bout in a media interaction. Sexton, 27, is a surging heavyweight who has been in a total 17 bouts and boasts 15 wins.
The young Norwich lad has nailed six of his opponents by knockout and has also collected two losses both via KO. Sam grabbed his Commonwealth (British Empire) heavyweight title from Martin Rogan and defended it successfully against him in the next bout.
Sam lost his title to Dereck Chisora in the second title defence bout.
Sam while sharing his thoughts commented, “He’s worried about this fight as well. He knows he’s never been against anyone with my speed and movement. He knows I'm going to cause him problems.”
The British proud added, “He is a good fighter. He does everything right. He had a good amateur career as well. He’s got a fantastic knock-out ratio - so that's why he's on top and the favourite.”
His opponent David boasts an intimidating and flawless resume. Price, 28, has been in a total 12 bouts and emerged victorious in all. He has lost not even a single bout and has nailed a huge 10 men by knockout.
Price is being dubbed as the favourite at the moment since he is also an Olympic bronze medallist and above all is coming from a huge first round knockout win over John McDermott.
The bout will be a tough one and if Sam capitalises his speed and footwork optimally he may become the BBBC British heavyweight champion for the very first time in his career.
