Sam Stout might break Thiago Tavares’ hometown winning streak at UFC 142 – UFC Special
On January 12, 2011 the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will be hosting UFC 142 in Brazil, where numerous matches have been booked.
One of the fights at the preliminary card will be the lightweight bout between Brazilian mixed martial art (MMA) fighter Thiago Tavares and Canadian MMA fighter Sam Stout. They would be focusing for a win to get their careers rolling forward.
The venue of UFC 142 will be of importance for Tavares for he will be competing in his home town. The home crowd he would get will boost his motivation to a whole new level. Tavares has taken part in 5 brawls in Brazil and has won all of them. This would
prove to be another distinctive advantage he would have by his side. The Brazilian crowd needs aggressive fights and the competitors must have the capacity to give them what they want. Tavares can certainly do that and adjust in the cage. However, his opponent,
Stout would need to make the most of his training, both physical and mental. He has never stepped foot inside a fighting cage in Brazil. The British MMA fighter would face something he has never experienced before in his entire MMA career.
Both fighters are nearly equal in terms of win/loss ratio. Stout has won eighteen fights with 6 losses and 1 fight ending in a draw. His opponent, Tavares has won twenty fights with 4 losses and 1 of his fight also ended in a draw. At UFC 142, their experience
would come in handy as they would unleash their aggression upon each other but Stout can take an early lead.
This fight can go in Stout’s favour for he will be heading to UFC 142 with two straight wins. He defeated compatriot MMA fighter Paul Taylor at UFC 121 in October 2010 followed by his win over Yves Edwards at UFC 131 in June 2011. Stout fought once in 2011
and come our victorious and would look for his first win of 2012. He would need to focus on his punches and strikes to overcome Tavares.
For Stout, fighting Tavares in Brazil will be nothing short of a challenge which he can lose. The British fighter would have to show his offensive style of attack the moment fight begins otherwise Tavares will give the first blow. Tavares would need to focus
on a knockout punch or strike because Stout will be vulnerable throughout the fight. Stout will take time in adjusting in the cage and would get intimidated by the entire crowd supporting their local hero, Tavares.
Stout would need to get his mind in the cage and not around it.  He must focus on winning the bout by a knockout and not just by a unanimous win. It is certain that if Stout knocks out Tavares then his image in the UFC and MMA community would solidify for
good. People would give him respect for fighting under pressure and beating a Brazilian on home ground. For this to happen, Stout must concentrate on his stance and strategy in the fight.   Tavares will come towards him fully loaded and will give a hard time.
Tavares is known for his knockout punches and submission manoeuvres. He would use them as frequently as possible as one such attempt might give him a win. Stout needs to keep a distance from Tavares when he is in form. The two fighters have the capability
to give the spectators what they want but it all depends on the mental mood they have on the big day. Stout will be go to Brazil for a win but Tavares will not back down with a fight either.
