Sam Stout wins trilogy against Spencer Fisher by collecting unanimous decision – UFC News
Sam Stout, the Canadian mixed martial art proud, collected an impressive unanimous decision win over arch rival Spencer Fisher, eventually engraving his name on the three-bout trilogy, in a three-round bout held on June 22, 2012.
The bout emphatically eclipsed even the main event between Clay Guida and Gray Maynard and literally mesmerised the UFC fanatics. The duo met on Ultimate Fighting Championship’s ‘UFC on FX4’ pay-per-view.
The non-title lightweight bout co-headlined the fight card which was televised live on FX channel. This was the third time that both men were taking on each other and entered the octagon with just one thought in their minds – Win.
Sam and Spencer share quite an exciting history and though are not that much well known in the division yet have put forth two exciting bouts which have gathered much praise from the mixed martial art fans.
Both men have won one bout each and therefore the Friday night rubber match was anticipated to be an explosive one. Interestingly, both men were coming from a unanimous decision loss to Thiago Tavares and were in much need of making a comeback at the win
track.
Sam, 28, was entering in his career’s 26th bout. The knockout specialist though was seriously overshadowed by Fisher’s experience yet did not show any kind of intimidation and gave intense resistance to the American Spencer.
Also known as ‘Hands of Stone’, Stout solidified his grip on the bout from the very first second. It was Fisher who started things off in a dominating manner and connected a thunderous kick.
The kick was followed by a powerful right hook that stunned Sam and flattened him on the ring floor. As soon as Sam touched the mat, the Canadian opted for a takedown and grabbed Fisher in his strong grip.
The duo exchanged multiple blows and just 30 seconds before the end of the bout, Fisher connected a left-right combination. The bout entered the second round in which Spencer tried to go for a takedown but was unable to do so.
The last minute of the second round was emphatically dominated by Sam who successfully executed yet another takedown. The classic trilogy ended with Sam collecting 30-27 on all the three cards.
With this win, Sam has is now not only back on the win track but has also won the series that will be recalled by the UFC fans for a pretty decent time. Spencer, on the other hand, has received his ninth career loss and seriously needs to think about revamping
his strategies as this was his third consecutive loss and fifth in last six bouts.
