Sam Tomkins says Tom Briscoe's disallowed try contributed to England defeat
While talking to the media during the post-match press conference on November 5, England coach, Steve McNamara, acknowledged that his side had to suffer a 20-36 defeat because of the undue pressure the Australian side had placed on the referee, Henry Perenara.

He shared that England was going pretty strong during the second half of the Weekend’s clash, but two misjudged decision swept away any hopes of winning the clash against the series favourites.

Perenara ‘s two decisions cost the English side quite heavily. The first decision did not send Australian forward Tony Williams off for a high tackle on Ben Westwood and the second decision which had aggravated the situation further was Tom Briscoe try which
was not allowed, when the score break up was 18-8.

Disapproving of the decision made by the inexperienced referee, McNamara said: "That was a wrong decision, as I believe was the decision not to send off Tony Williams. I think that was a dead-cert red card, no doubt about it and they came on the back of each
other. We would never ever use the officials as a reason as to why we never won that game this week. But the other influence at the start of the week, by the Australian team, Tim Sheens and the rest of his staff - the pressure that referee must have been under
- I think he is wrong. We should be talking about the exploits of people like Jamie and some of the outstanding rugby league players that are in our country at this moment in time.”

He further went on and added that almost a week ago, almost everyone was discussing how well the referee is going to display his decion making skills during the Wembley’s encounter. However, that may have placed a a lot of pressure on him, who went overboard
in terms of making some unacceptable decisions for the English side.

It has been reckoned by English coach that referee’s wrong decions are to be blamed for their loss at Wembley berth, which may have been the case otherwise if the coach had not been pressured by Kangaroos.
